Scripture for Wednesday, March 15 (3/15)

The scripture for today, March 15, is Colossians 3:15 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

Oldoldstory-COVER-KINDLE“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Paul was encouraging the Christians at Colossae to get along with each other. After all, they were all members of the one body ~ the one church. In the next verse, he even told them to sing to each other; not only to get along, but be thankful their brothers and sisters were who they were.

What a wonderful way to mend a rift. Begin singing. Sing with the person you are not getting along with. Watch the smile on your face drift over to them. Watch the smile on their face rise up out of a heart that really does want to love you.

Let not little things interfere with your love for each other. You do not want to cause pain to your heavenly Father when his children do not get along. Let us please each other ~ and sing!

Scripture for Wednesday, July 27 (7/27)

The scripture for today, July 27, is Luke 7:27 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

0-BOOK 3-HEARTS AFIRE-COVER“This is the one about whom it is written: ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’ “

“The way” could also be considered “the path” or “the road”. To prepare “the way” would be to straighten out the curves temporarily leading in the wrong direction, or clear out the stumbling rocks, or fill in the jarring ruts made when it rains.

We can prepare “the way” ahead of crises for our loved ones by example, by being a true friend, by prayer, by sharing the Word of God. Life is hard. Are we always preparing “the way” for people we know?

Today think of someone for whom you can begin to prepare “the way”.

DISCUSSION QUESTION: TELL ABOUT A TIME WHEN SOMEONE PREPARED THE WAY FOR YOU TO GO THROUGH A DIFFICULT TIME.

The scripture for today, December 16, is Romans 12:16 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

0-BOOK 2-DREAM MAKER-COVER“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.”

Who do we associate with? Just people who are like us?

Do we consider people richer than us as greedy, uncaring and uppity? And people poorer than us as lazy, users and lowlifes?

Do we consider people smarter than us as having their heads in the clouds? And people duller than us as incapable of understanding anything important?

Do we consider people stronger than us as egotistical show-offs? And people weaker than us as not worthy of notice?

How this hurts our Savior who died for everyone. We are all sinners. We all need the same saving grace.

Let us live in harmony with all. Let us make everyone ~ both those “above” us and “below” us ~ feel the love of God through us. And equal.
